Biography :

Manijeh Razeghi received the Doctorate d’état ES Sciences Physiques from the Université de Paris, France, in 1980. After heading the Exploratory Materials Lab at Thomson-CSF (France), she joined Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, as a Walter P. Murphy Professor and Director of the Center for Quantum Devices in Fall 1991, where she created the undergraduate and graduate program in solid-state engineering. She is one of the leading scientists in the field of semiconductor science and technology, pioneering in the development and implementation of major modern epitaxial techniques such as MOCVD, VPE, gas MBE, and MOMBE for the growth of entire compositional ranges of III-V compound semiconductors. She is on the editorial board of many journals such as Journal of Nanotechnology, and Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, an Associate Editor of Opto-Electronics Review. She is on the International Advisory Board for the Polish Committee of Science, and is an Adjunct Professor at the College of Optical Sciences of the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. She has authored or co-authored more than 1000 papers, more than 31 book chapters, and 18 books, including the textbooks Technology of Quantum Devices (Springer Science+Business Media, Inc., New York, NY U.S.A. 2010) and Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering, 3rd Edition (Springer Science+Business Media, Inc., New York, NY U.S.A. 2009). Two of her books, MOCVD Challenge Vol. 1 (IOP Publishing Ltd., Bristol, U.K., 1989) and MOCVD Challenge Vol. 2 (IOP Publishing Ltd., Bristol, U.K., 1995), discuss some of her pioneering work in InP-GaInAsP and GaAs-GaInAsP based systems. The MOCVD Challenge, 2nd Edition (Taylor & Francis/CRC Press, 2010) represents the combined updated version of Volumes 1 and 2. She holds 55 U.S. patents and has given more than 1000 invited and plenary talks. Her current research interest is in nanoscale optoelectronic quantum devices.She has an H -index of 81. Dr. Razeghi is a Fellow of MRS, IOP, IEEE, APS, SPIE, OSA, Fellow and Life Member of Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Fellow of the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), and a member of the Electrochemical Society, ACS, AAAS, and the French Academy of Sciences and Technology. She received the IBM Europe Science and Technology Prize in 1987, the Achievement Award from the SWE in 1995, the R.F. Bunshah Award in 2004, IBM Faculty Award 2013, and the Jan Czochralski Gold Medal in 2016, and many best paper awards. She is an elected life Fellow of SWE, , IEEE, and MRS.

Biography :

Dr. Fenniri was educated at the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, receiving his undergraduate degree in chemistry and biochemistry (1989, top of his class), and his M.Sc./Ph.D. degrees in supramolecular science and engineering (1990/1994) under the supervision of Professor Jean-Marie Lehn (Nobel Laureate). He then joined the Scripps Research Institute in California, USA, where he carried out his postdoctoral training under the supervision of Professor Richard A. Lerner (President and CEO). In 1997 he moved to Purdue University, where he initiated his independent academic career, and established the Purdue Laboratory for Chemical Nanotechnology (1999). In 2003, He joined the National Research Council and the University of Alberta to build and lead the Supramolecular Nanoscale Assembly program, and contribute to the shaping of the National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT), its research programs and facilities, and the recruitment of highly qualified personnel. NINT has since grown from 4 principal investigators in 2003 to a vibrant research and technology organization of over 350 researchers in 2013. In addition, Dr. Fenniri held a full professor position with the Department of Chemistry (since 2003-2013) and adjunct full professor positions with the department of biomedical engineering (since 2010) with the faculty of medicine, and with the department if Chemistry (since 2013) at the University of Alberta. Dr. Fenniri is currently Professor Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA. Dr. Fenniri has achieved international recognition as a leader in the areas of self-assembly, supramolecular chemistry, nanomedicine, combinatorial chemistry, and materials sciences. His group works at the forefront of basic and applied nanosciences, in collaboration with various academic institutions, federal laboratories, and with the private sector. Dr. Fenniri’s contributions appeared in over 190 publications, 8 patents, and over 400 contributed national and international conference papers. Dr. Fenniri has also presented his work in over 150 invited distinguished lectures, colloquia and seminars around the globe. His research programs are supported by the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Alberta Advanced Education and Technology, the US National Institutes of Health, the National Research Council of Canada, the University of Alberta, and several private, provincial and federal funding organizations. Dr. Fenniri is the recipient of several academic and professional honours and awards, including the Xerox UAC Award (2006–2008), the 3M Faculty Award (2000, 2002), the Showalter Trust Fund Award (1999, 2001), the Trask Trust Fund Technology Innovation Award (2000), the Cottrell Teacher Scholar Award (2000–2005), and the US National Science Foundation Career Award (1999–2003). Dr. Fenniri is Member of the Editorial Board of several scientific journals and serves on several national and international scientific boards, panels, and committees. Dr. Fenniri has been an invited professor at the Université de Strasbourg and the Collège de France (2010), the National University of Taiwan (2007), and the University of Colorado Boulder, USA (2004). He has also been DAAD Visiting Professor at Regensburg University, Germany (2002, 2003).

Biography :

Shaker A Mousa finished his PhD from Ohio State University, College of Medicine, Columbus, OH and Post-doctoral Fellowship, University of Kentucky, Lexington KY. He also received his MBA from Widener University, Chester, PA. He is currently an endowed tenure Professor and Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute and Vice Provost for Research at ACPHS. Prior to his academic career, he was a senior Scientist and fellow at The DuPont Pharmaceutical Company for 17 years, where he contributed to the discovery and development of several FDA approved and globally marketed diagnostics and therapeutics. He holds over 350 US and International Patents discovering novel anti-angiogenesis strategies, antithrombotics, anti-integrins, anti-cancer, and non-invasive diagnostic imaging approaches employing various nanotechnology platforms. His has published more than 1,000 journal articles, book chapters, published patents, and books as editor and author. He is a member of several NIH study sections, and the Editorial Board Member of several high impact Journals. His research has focused on diagnostics and therapeutics of angiogenesis-related disorders, thrombosis, vascular and cardiovascular diseases.

Dr. Mousa's current research interests include: Adhesion molecules in health and diseases, Novel therapeutic and diagnostic targets, Treatment and prevention of ischemic and coronary artery diseases, Angiogenesis modulation, vascular and tissue remodeling, and novel anti-platelet, anti-thrombotic and anti-ischemic therapies. Dr. Mousa received a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University, completed postdoctoral research in Cardiovascular Pharmacology at the University of Kentucky and earned his MBA from Widener University. A native of Alexandria, Egypt, he received his B.Pharm. and M.Sc. degrees from Alexandria University. He was elected a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (FACB), and is a member of several national and international societies. He was recently awarded grants through the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Institute of Health.

Currently, Auciello is Distinguished Chair-University of Texas-Dallas. Auciello is directing basic and applied research programs on multifunctional oxide and novel ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) thin films and application to industrial, high-tech, and medical devices. The UNCD film technology is commercialized for industrial products by Advanced Diamond Technologies, founded by Auciello and colleagues, (2003, profitable in 2014), and by Original Biomedical Implants (OBI-USA, 2013) and OBI-México (2016) for medical devices. Auciello has edited 20 books and published about 500 articles in several fields, holds 20 patents, He is associate editor of APL and Integrated Ferroelectrics, He was President of the Materials Research Society (2013) Auciello is Fellow of AAAS and MRS.

Dr. Nadia Benkirane is Research director and head of the “ Osteoarticular and Dental regenerative Nanomedicine” laboratory, at INSERM (French National Institute for Health and Medical Research), UMR 1109, Strasbourg, France. She was leader of “Active Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering” team INSERM 977. She received her Ph.D. from University Louis Pasteur, ULP, Strasbourg, France for the work on Development of pseudopeptides as synthetic vaccines. Dr. Jessel (Benkirane) then held a postdoctoral position in collaboration with the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France, working on Immunotherapy HIV, and another postdoctoral position on the application of modified peptides as vaccines against FMDV (Plum Island Animal Disease Center, ARS, USDA, Greenport, NY 11944-0848, USA). She joined the INSERM U595 in 2002 as a post-doc, and received the diploma to direct the research (HDR) in 2004. Dr. Jessel got the permanent position (CR1) in the INSERM 595 laboratory in 2004 and Research Director (DR2) position in the INSERM 977 and head of “active Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering team from 2009 until 2012). Currently Research Director (DR1) in the INSERM UMR 1109 (Osteoarticular and Dental Regenerative Nanomedicine" and heads the team. Dr. Jessel possesses expertise in diverse fields of molecular and cellular biology, immunochemistry, tissue engineering and biomedical engineering. In the last 10 years, she focused her research on the bio-functionalization of multilayered polyelectrolyte architectures with emphasis on the use of these architectures to induce specific cellular responses and gain control over cell proliferation and differentiation. Dr. Benkirane-Jessel have 138 publications (h index: 36) with peer-reviewed publications in high impact factor journals (Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA; Adv. Mater.; Adv. Funct. Dr. Jabbari is a Tenured Full Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and the Director of Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering and Drug Delivery at the University of South Carolina. He earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University in Chemical Engineering. He began his independent career as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Orthopedic Research at Mayo Clinic upon completion of his post-doctoral training at Monsanto and Rice University. Jabbari’s research is focused on engineering 3D multi-cellular co-culture systems and the effect of spatiotemporal delivery of growth factors and physico-mechanical factors in the microenvironment on function and fate of stem cells for applications in skeletal tissue regeneration and cancer stem cell therapy. He received the Berton Rahn Award from the AO Foundation in 2012 and the Stephen Milam Award from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation in 2008. He was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) in 2013. He has published >250 books, book chapters, refereed journal articles (107 peer-reviewed), and conference proceedings, and presented >260 seminars at national and international conferences (67 plenary, keynote, and invited seminars). He currently serves as the Technical Chair as well as the Programming Chair for Bionanotechnology theme of the annual conference of Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (IEE-EMBS).
